Most people dread Sundays because of the creeping anxiety of Monday.

The loss of freedom, the looming inbox, the meetings that never end, and that dress code are enough to put anyone into a tailspin.

I found that the sense of dread was my own fear of the unknown.

In my twenties, I decided to flip this fear into fuel and take control of my week.

That “Sunday Scaries” energy? It’s actually a signal: your brain knows you have responsibility heading your way.

You can either stay ahead of it or you can go along for the ride as everyone else dictates your day and your week.

Instead of ignoring it, harness it.

Plan your week the day before. Break big projects into bite-sized tasks. Use that anxious energy to outline content, map strategy, or tackle a high-impact task you’ve been avoiding.

When others are stressing, you’re creating momentum, building assets, and setting yourself up for wins.

The secret: treat Sundays as a launchpad, not a hangover.

Working on Sundays taught me that I spend so many weekdays responding to other people’s emergencies (that are usually avoidable).

Sundays are not disturbed by phone calls, emails, work emergencies, meetings that run late, deadlines looming over your head, office politics, or someone else dictating your schedule.

I get so much more done on Sunday than on any other day.

Convert the dread into action, and suddenly your scariest day of the week becomes your most profitable.

Your “Sunday Scaries” aren’t a curse. They’re the superpower opportunity for both solopreneurs and humans, alike.

I wake up on Monday mornings to an empty inbox, ready to take on the world, and prepared for everyone else that is only starting to think about the week ahead.

Pro tip: Don’t forget to have fun. I often sleep in on Sundays, grab brunch with a friend, or end the night at a dive bar with a cocktail. Even so, my phrase for Sunday is and always will be “staying ahead”.
